The Restoration

LA RESTAURACIÓN

THE RESTORATION

When Joseph Smith went to a grove of trees to ask God which was the true church, Jesus told him that none of them, because there was a great apostasy. During some 1700 years, the people of the world lived in spiritual darkness. Some men realized that the gospel that Jesus had taught was not upon the earth, and that there was no revelation nor true authority, and they tried to reform the church, but they didn’t have the authority either.

God had promised to do “a marvelous work and a wonder” and to restore his Church. Jesus told the boy Joseph Smith that he would be the new prophet, who needed to begin the work of restoring the Church. During some years the young man was instructed and prepared for God’s messengers. While he translated the Book of Mormon, Joseph and his assistant, Oliver Cowdery, were visited by John the Baptist, and later by Peter, James and John, Christ’s ancient apostles, who conferred the Priesthood and gave them the authority to restore the Church to the earth. Under the direction of Jesus Christ, Joseph organized the Church with its perfect organization, with twelve apostles, seventies, bishops, etc. He installed once more the pure ordinances and the correct doctrine of the gospel. Since then, the Church has remained under the direction of the prophets and has grown so, that presently there are more than 15 million members in almost every part of the world.
