THE BOOK OF MORMON
Tres años después de que nuestro Padre Celestial y Jesucristo visitaron a José Smith, él estaba una noche orando en su cuarto, cuando un ángel se le apareció. Le dijo que era Moroni, un antiguo profeta que había vivido en América. Dijo que en un cerro cerca de la casa de José, él había escondido un libro escrito sobre planchas de oro. Moroni le dijo a José que el libro fue escrito por él y otros profetas que vivieron en las Américas.
Three years after our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ visited Joseph Smith, one night he was praying in his room, when an angel appeared to him. He said he was Moroni, an ancient prophet who had lived in America. He said that in a hill near Joseph’s home, he had hidden a book written on golden plates. Moroni told Joseph that the book had been written by himself and other prophets who had lived in the Americas.
Cuatro años después de la primera visita de Moroni a José Smith, Moroni le dijo que podía sacar el libro del cerro. José tradujo el libro por el don y el poder de Dios y lo llamó “El Libro de Mormón.” Se llama así en honor de un antiguo profeta llamado Mormón que escribió una gran parte del libro. Four years after Moroni’s first visit to Joseph Smith, Moroni told him that he could take the book from the hill. Joseph translated the book by the gift and power of God and called it “The Book of Mormon.” It is called this in honor of an ancient prophet named Mormon who wrote a large part of the book. The book contains revelations that ancient prophets of the American Continent received from the Lord. The book also tells of the visit of Jesus Christ to America after his resurrection.
El Libro de Mormón no es una “Biblia mormona.” Es otro libro que enseña la palabra de Dios, como fue revelada a los antiguos habitantes de las Américas. El Libro de Mormón afirma todo lo que está en la Biblia, y la Biblia afirma todo lo que dice el Libro de Mormón. En el libro hay una promesa que si una persona lo lee con un corazón sincero, el Señor le manifestará por el poder del Espíritu Santo que el libro es verdad. The Book of Mormon is not a “Mormon Bible.” It is another book that teaches the word of God, as was revealed to the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. The Book of Mormon confirms everything that is written in the Bible, and the Bible confirms everything that the Book of Mormon says. In the book there is a promise that if a person reads it with a sincere heart, the Lord will manifest by the power of the Holy Ghost that the book is true. I myself have read the book and know that it is divine, and that it contains the Word of God.
